Absolutely! Technology is all we teach. There are no general education classes that are unrelated to your future job. We have close relationships with hiring companies who tell us exactly what skills they’re looking for in ideal candidates— so everything you learn in class are skills you’ll use in your IT job. The best way to learn technology is doing it with personalized activities, projects, and real-world simulations. By the end your two months, you will be doing the exact things employers will ask you to do.
The simplest way to say it is: No history, no biology, just technology. Because we aren’t a college or community college, we have the unique ability to change our curriculum to meet the ever-changing needs of the technology industry.
Plus, Tek Ladder focuses exclusively on training you for the job skills required to get started in a technology career. The goal of 2-4 year schools is generally to provide a well-rounded education. That’s why traditional colleges and community colleges require that almost 50% of your classes are in “general education” – which may or may not help you advance your career goals. By teaching only the technology job skills you need, Tek Ladder is able to “accelerate” your education time frame and ensure that the technology you are learning is not outdated.
While IT has traditionally been viewed as a male-dominated field, the reality is that the landscape is rapidly changing. The career opportunities for women in IT have never been greater. Many tech companies, including cities across the Midwest, are looking to add more women to their teams every day.
In today’s economy, the demand for skilled IT workers significantly exceeds the supply of qualified candidates. Because of this, employers are more focused on whether the candidates can do the job rather than if the candidates have a degree.
In a survey of 2400 CIOs by Robert Half Technology, 71% said they place more emphasis on “skills and experience than on whether or not a candidate attended college/university”. While there are still some companies and some positions that require a degree, the vast majority of tech job opportunities do not. These opportunities are being filled with individuals with the right technology job skills.
This is truly one of our most frequently asked questions and the answer is unequivocally “Yes you can”! Tek Ladder’s program was designed specifically for individuals with little or no technology experience. In fact, over 90% of our students have no technology experience at all. That’s why we’ve developed a hands-on methodology that builds each week on the skills you learned the previous week. By actually doing the technology, you are reinforcing what you learn throughout the program. At the end of the program, you are a skilled IT professional ready to contribute to your new job.
Yes! During the program, we teach you the job-skills employers want, and we also help you develop your resume, hone your job search skills, provide interview training and more. Then, we work with an employer network of over 1,500 companies to help you get your first IT job.
Unlike traditional schools which are unable to modify their curriculum easily or quickly, we continually look to update our programs. Our goal is to ensure our students are trained on the most up-to-date technology skills that companies are looking to hire. How do we determine this? We have close relationships with hiring companies who tell us exactly what skills they’re looking for in ideal candidates. Additionally, our parent company, Centriq Training, offers corporate training to companies all over the Midwest and has placed program graduates with 1,500 hiring companies. These companies let us know exactly what skillsets they’re looking for in IT candidates!
The first step is a quick telephone call with one of our Admission Advisors to answer any questions you may have. Many loans are approved within 24 hours. Other times the lender may require additional information. In this case the approval may take up to a week. Our Admission Advisors, however, are available to assist you by answering any questions you may have and making suggestions throughout the process. We have many creative ways to find funding—and we’re experts in doing so!
Yes. Like all “proprietary” or “private post-secondary” schools, Tek Ladder is required to seek annual approval to operate its programs.
